Bhangarh Fort

Bhangarh Fort, located in the Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan, India, is often cited as one of the most haunted places in the country. Its history, steeped in tragedy and curses, has given rise to numerous supernatural tales that continue to intrigue visitors.

A Brief History

Constructed in the 16th century by King Bhagwant Das for his younger son Madho Singh, Bhangarh Fort was initially a prosperous kingdom due to its strategic position along trade routes. However, its fate changed dramatically due to a series of curses rooted in local folklore. One prominent legend tells of a powerful tantric named Umaid Singh who fell in love with Princess Ratnavati. His attempts to use black magic to win her affection failed, leading him to curse the fort before his death, condemning it to ruin and ensuring it would remain haunted forever.
Another tale involves Guru Balu Nath, a hermit who permitted the fortโ€™s construction on the condition that its shadow would never fall on his dwelling. When a descendant of Madho Singh violated this condition by adding more stories to the fort, Balu Nathโ€™s curse was unleashed, leading to the eventual desolation of Bhangarh.

The Haunting Tales
Bhangarh Fort is rich with eerie stories that have captivated both locals and tourists:

The Witchโ€™s Curse:
A witch named Ajampur allegedly cursed the fort after being denied entry, contributing to its downfall.

The Tantricโ€™s Revenge:

UFO Sightings:
Reports of unidentified flying objects near the fort add an additional layer of mystery.
